Theme: The Economics of Climate Change in Southeast Asia
Venue: Shore and Country Club in Norwalk, Connecticut Date: Sunday, May 23, 2010 Time: 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. Since its inception on December 5, 2003, with the mission to promote a spirit of "One World", The U Thant Institute has organized events to impart knowledge about our interdependent world. These events reflect U Thant's ideals and his vision of a world safe for diversity and a place of peaceful co-existence in the spirit of tolerance and mutual understanding.
Each year, The U Thant Institute holds a luncheon that focuses on a theme of particular concern to the United Nations. This year’s luncheon will have as its theme “The Economics of Climate Change in Southeast Asia”. Dr. R.K. Pachauri, who is the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore in 2007, and the Director General of TERI, will be our special guest and keynote speaker. The event will also be attended by ambassadors from Asia and other regions as honored guests..
